On January 28, 2007, Kevin Bacon kicked off a Donation Drive through his charity hub, SixDegrees.org using Network For Good. For two months, people had the chance to be a “celebrity” for their cause by creating a badge and asking people to donate. The top 6 badges would receive a $10,000 grant from Bacon.
Through what has become a TBAF trademark—grassroots passion, word spread like wildfire to begin donating to the Foundation through the volunteer-established badge. Regular calls and updates on message boards encouraged more and more people to be connected.
On March 31, TBAF was excited to learn that it had finished second behind only Ali Edwards who was benefiting Autism Speaks. The final tallies had the Foundation at 2030 donations and $41,765!
Kristy and Aron had the opportunity to share the Foundation’s experience with Kevin Bacon in a conference call. To check out the other badges and the phone call, click here.
